    Movie marathon part of annual AWESOMEFEST fundraiser

    On Saturday, July 31, GFC and Awesomefest present 10 hours of the renegade cop by which all others are judged, Clint Eastwood's "Dirty" Harry Callahan! We'll show all five films in the series in order, back-to-back, as part of an all-day fundraiser of cycling, viewing and tattooing to raise funds for Asia's Hope, a Columbus-based charity dedicated to providing long-term care for orphaned children at high risk of sexual and economic exploitation. Every Saturday, Tuesday and Thursday, we'll unspool horror films ranging from local premieres to tried-and-true classics of the genre. This week's selection, starting Saturday, July 31: zombie sluts from hell in the over-the-top British pic DOGHOUSE. August 7 brings LOST's Dominic Monaghan as a guilty grave robber in I SELL THE DEAD. followed August 14 by the road trip nail biter HUSH and August 21 by [REC]2, the follow-up to one of the scariest movies ever made.     South Campus Gateway and Gateway Film Center are proud to support Pelotonia10, our in-house team of Pelotonia riders (Go Team Gaiser!) and the outstanding efforts of The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center - James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute. Help us help them - see the groundbreaking, Oscar-nominated biopic of late Cleveland legend Harvey Pekar on July 29 at 7 p.m. or August 1 at 4 p.m. GFC staff is also currently accepting donations as small as $1 in the lobby for Pelotonia, and everyone who contributes will have their gift commemorated by a sign in the Film Center's windows.

    Join us on the first Wednesday of every month for new, award-winning films about our environment to benefit Ohio Environmental Council and its mission to insure clean air, land and water for all who call Ohio home.

    On August 4, we're proud to present the Ohio premiere of Collapse. Arriving with an armful of critical raves from the likes of Roger Ebert and the AV Club, the latest documentary from director Chris Smith (American Movie) turns the camera on Michael Ruppert, a former law enforcement officer turned 21st century prophet with an utterly fascinating and compelling message to share about peak oil and the future of our planet.

Come to GFC for a weekly team trivia challenge with quizmaster Squirrel and use that knowledge to win free movie tickets and other prizes. It happens every Thursday from 8-10 p.m. in the Martini Shot upstairs. Admission is free!
